1. Purpose of The Old Age Home
The Old Age Home is established to provide senior citizens with safe accommodation, nutritious food, personal care, social interaction, recreational opportunities, assistance with healthcare, and a dignified living environment.
The Home aims to maintain an atmosphere of mutual respect, safety, privacy, companionship, and responsible community living.
These Terms & Conditions form part of the admission arrangement and should be read together with the resident’s admission form, fee schedule, medical records, undertaking and other applicable documents.
2. Eligibility and Admission
- Admission shall be subject to the eligibility criteria and availability of accommodation prescribed by the Home.
- The applicant/resident and/or authorised representative must provide accurate personal, family, financial and medical information.
- The Home may request identity documents, photographs, medical reports, prescriptions, emergency contact information and other documents reasonably required for admission and safe care.
- Admission shall be confirmed only after completion of the required documentation and approval by the authorised management representative.
- The resident’s room/bed shall be allotted by the management according to availability and the resident’s care requirements.
- A change of room or bed may be made when reasonably required for medical, safety, operational or administrative reasons, which may be chargeable.
- The resident and family/representative must immediately inform the Home of any material change in medical condition, medication, emergency contact or legal status.
3. Dignity, Respect and Equal Treatment
- Every resident shall be treated with dignity, courtesy and respect.
- Residents shall respect the dignity, privacy, beliefs, personal choices and reasonable boundaries of other residents.
- Discrimination, harassment, intimidation, humiliation or abusive behaviour toward residents, staff, visitors or service providers is not permitted.
- Residents shall not use threatening, insulting or offensive language toward another person.
- Physical aggression, bullying, coercion or deliberate intimidation is prohibited.
- Differences of opinion should be resolved peacefully through discussion or the Home’s grievance procedure.
4. Accommodation
- The room/bed allotted to a resident shall be used only by that resident unless otherwise authorised.
- Residents shall maintain reasonable cleanliness and order in their rooms.
- Furniture, fixtures, electrical equipment and other property belonging to the Home must be used carefully.
- Residents shall not make structural alterations, install permanent fixtures or change locks without written permission.
- Any damage caused intentionally or through negligent misuse may be recoverable in accordance with the initial deposits.
- Management may enter a room for maintenance, cleaning, safety checks, emergency response or other legitimate institutional purposes. Except in emergencies, reasonable notice should ordinarily be provided where practicable.
5. Personal Belongings and Valuables
- Residents are responsible for keeping personal belongings safely.
- Valuable jewellery, large amounts of cash and unnecessary expensive items should not ordinarily be kept in rooms. Management/ Home will not take any responsibility for any theft or missing in such case.
- A personal-property inventory may be prepared at admission.
- Any valuable item deposited with the Home should be recorded and acknowledged.
- Residents should immediately report missing or damaged belongings to management.
- The Home shall not accept responsibility for personal property that was not declared.
6. Medical Emergency
- Emergency Medical Care: In the event of any medical emergency, illness, accident, injury, or sudden deterioration in the health of the resident, the Old Age Home will take reasonable and immediate steps to arrange necessary medical assistance.
- Hospitalisation: If the resident requires treatment beyond the facilities available at the Old Age Home, the management may arrange transportation to a nearby hospital, nursing home, or medical facility.
- Emergency Contact: The resident’s nominated family member/guardian/emergency contact will be informed as soon as reasonably possible regarding any serious medical condition, hospitalisation, or emergency treatment.
- Medical Expenses: All expenses relating to doctor consultations, medicines, diagnostic tests, ambulance services, hospitalisation, surgery, treatment, nursing care, and other medical services shall be borne by the resident or his/her family/guardian, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- Consent for Emergency Treatment: The resident/family/guardian authorises the Old Age Home management to arrange necessary emergency medical assistance when immediate action is required and prior consent cannot reasonably be obtained.
- Pre-existing Medical Conditions: The resident or family/guardian must provide complete and accurate information regarding existing medical conditions, allergies, medications, disabilities, and other relevant health information at the time of admission. Any material omission may affect the Home’s ability to provide appropriate care.
- Medication: All prescribed medicines must be properly disclosed and supplied by the resident/family/guardian as required. The Old Age Home shall administer or supervise medication only according to the available medical instructions and its agreed scope of care.
- Ambulance and Transportation: Where required, an ambulance or other suitable transportation may be arranged for emergency hospitalisation. The related charges shall be payable by the resident/family/guardian.
- Responsibility During Emergency: The Old Age Home will exercise reasonable care and take appropriate steps during a medical emergency; however, it cannot guarantee any particular medical outcome or be held responsible for complications arising from the resident’s existing medical condition, sudden illness, or circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
- Family/Guardian Cooperation: The resident’s family member/guardian shall remain available and cooperate with the management and medical professionals during emergencies, including providing necessary documents, medical history, consent, and financial arrangements.
- Emergency Contact Details: The resident/family/guardian must immediately inform the Old Age Home of any change in emergency contact details, medical history, medications, or treating doctor.
- End-of-Life/Emergency Situations: In serious or life-threatening circumstances, the Old Age Home shall follow applicable medical advice and legal requirements and shall promptly inform the nominated family member/guardian.
- No Substitution for Hospital Care: The Old Age Home is a residential care facility and is not a substitute for a hospital or intensive medical-care facility unless specifically stated in writing.
- Legal Compliance: All emergency medical procedures and decisions shall be undertaken in accordance with applicable laws, medical advice, and the policies of the Old Age Home.
Security Deposit, Monthly Fees & Refund
Security Deposit :
- At the time of admission, the resident or their authorised family member/guardian shall pay a refundable security deposit as specified by Anandam.
- The security deposit shall be kept as a security against outstanding fees, unpaid bills, damages to property, or any other legitimate dues payable by the resident.
- The security deposit shall not be treated as or adjusted against the regular monthly charges unless specifically agreed to in writing by the management.
Monthly Charges :
- The resident/family/guardian shall pay the applicable monthly accommodation and care charges as agreed at the time of admission.
- Monthly charges shall be payable on or before the due date specified by the Old Age Home.
- Charges for medicines, medical treatment, doctor visits, diagnostic tests, ambulance services, hospitalisation, personal attendants, special diet, and other additional services shall be payable separately, wherever applicable.
- The management reserves the right to revise monthly charges by giving reasonable prior notice to the resident/family/guardian.
Late Payment :
- If the monthly payment is not made within the prescribed due date, the management may levy a reasonable late payment charge as specified in the fee schedule.
- Continued non-payment may result in suspension of additional services or termination of the residential arrangement, subject to applicable law and reasonable notice.
Refund of Security Deposit :
- The security deposit shall be refunded after the resident leaves the Old Age Home, subject to settlement of all outstanding dues.
- Before refunding the deposit, the management may deduct any unpaid monthly fees, medical or other authorised expenses, damage to property, or other legitimate outstanding amounts payable by the resident.
- After adjustment of such dues, the remaining balance shall be returned to the resident or the authorised nominee/family member/guardian.
Time for Refund :
- The balance security deposit shall normally be refunded within 60 days from the date of final settlement, subject to completion of all required formalities and verification of outstanding dues.
- The refund shall be made through the payment method agreed upon with the resident/family/guardian.
In Case of Death of Resident :
- In the unfortunate event of the death of a resident, the security deposit shall be settled after deduction of all legitimate outstanding dues.
- The remaining amount shall be refunded to the nominated person/legal heir, subject to submission of the required identification and legal documents.
Voluntary Departure:
- If a resident/family/guardian decides to discontinue the stay, written notice of 30 days shall normally be given to the management.
- The applicable notice-period charges, if any, shall be adjusted according to the admission agreement and fee structure.
- The security deposit shall be refunded after the resident vacates the premises and all accounts are finally settled.
No Unauthorised Deductions:
- Any deduction from the security deposit shall be supported by a valid outstanding charge or documented damage/expense.
- The management shall provide a statement of deductions, wherever applicable, before making the final settlement.
Final Settlement :
- At the time of departure, a final statement of account shall be prepared showing:
Security deposit received
Monthly fees paid
Outstanding monthly fees, if any
Additional service/medical charges, if applicable
Other authorised deductions
Net amount refundable
Acceptance of Financial Terms:
By signing the admission form/agreement, the resident and/or their authorised family member/guardian confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted the above financial terms and conditions.
Any change to the agreed financial terms shall be communicated by the management and, where required, acknowledged by the resident/family/guardian in writing.
